Since I was sixteen years old, I have had the pleasure of being able to lead a classroom by teaching swim lessons to children between the ages of two and fourteen, working as a camp counselor at Club Scientific for children eight to thirteen years old, and instructing dance lessons for people of all ages. Throughout these experiences, I found that I have a true passion for helping others learn and fulfill their true potential. There’s nothing greater than seeing a child’s face light up when they have finally figured out a step they’ve been working on for weeks, or watching a kid jump up and down after they finally conquered the deep end of the pool on their own. With this being said, I want to be a teacher so I can help students reach their goals and get them excited about learning science! Throughout elementary and high school I really enjoyed science, mainly because of the amazing teachers that I had. My hometown, Whitehouse, Texas, had wonderful science teachers, specifically in middle school and high school. Those teachers are the reason that I have decided to share my knowledge with children. After graduating from Whitehouse High School, I sought higher education at the University of North Texas. I am currently an undergraduate student there, seeking my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with the hope of teaching students between 4th and 8th grade. While at UNT, my passion for nature in particular has grown exponentially. I would thoroughly enjoy being able to teach students about nature, wildlife, the environment, and how to interact with these elements without causing damage to them. However, I would also be very excited to teach indoors and work hands on with other subsections of science including, physics, chemistry, biology, and astronomy.
